The KEF R5 Meta is a slim and elegant three-way floorstanding speaker that delivers highly detailed sound and deep, clean bass despite its compact proportions. It can be used as a stereo pair or as surround speakers within a complete R Series home theatre system.

12th Generation Uni-Q® with MAT™

R5 Meta features KEF's 12th Generation Uni-Q® driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™). Uni-Q® acts as a single point source, dispersing sound more evenly throughout the room and allowing listeners in a wider area to experience the same natural and detailed sound.

MAT™ absorbs 99% of the unwanted sound radiating from the rear of the driver. By reducing the resulting distortion, it enables cleaner, purer and more natural sound reproduction.

Shadow Flare for Greater Detail

Derived from The Reference, Shadow Flare reduces harmful high-frequency cabinet diffraction. Its carefully profiled transition extends the waveguide effect of Uni-Q®, allowing treble to escape naturally and improving the reproduction of fine detail.

Fast and Controlled Bass

The two 130 mm hybrid aluminium bass drivers use a two-part structure comprising a shallow concave aluminium skin over a paper cone. The stiffness of this construction and its carefully developed geometry promote piston-like movement for impressive speed, impact and precision.

An optimised motor system creates a broad and uniform magnetic field for powerful and controlled bass. Flexible port walls, developed using computational fluid dynamics, delay the onset of turbulence and help prevent port resonances from colouring the midrange.

Performance-Critical Cabinet Damping

The R Series uses constrained layer damping, with internal braces connected through a lossy interface. This material converts unwanted vibration into heat, helping the cabinet remain acoustically neutral and allowing the drive units to perform with greater clarity and accuracy.

Dedicated Microfibre Grilles

R5 Meta is engineered to perform with or without its grilles. The dedicated multilayer microfibre grilles have a suede-like finish, while precision-cut openings preserve acoustic performance when the drivers are covered. Magnetic fixings provide a secure and accurate fit while maintaining the clean styling of the R Series.
