Handcrafted Precision

Every pair of Reference 3 Meta loudspeakers is designed, engineered and handcrafted at KEF's manufacturing facility in Maidstone, Kent, UK. Once assembled, each pair is individually measured and matched against the laboratory-maintained reference standard. With a matching tolerance of just ±0.5 dB, every pair performs as an acoustically identical system, delivering exceptional stereo imaging and tonal consistency.

12th Generation Uni-Q® with MAT™

At the heart of the Reference 3 Meta is KEF's 12th Generation Uni-Q® driver array, placing the tweeter precisely at the acoustic centre of the midrange driver. This true point-source configuration allows sound to radiate from a single origin, resulting in exceptional phase coherence, precise imaging and a remarkably natural soundstage.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™) absorbs up to 99% of the unwanted sound radiating from the rear of the tweeter. By eliminating these internal reflections, MAT™ significantly reduces distortion while revealing greater transparency, finer detail and improved clarity throughout the audible spectrum.

Controlled and Authoritative Bass

Two 165 mm aluminium bass drivers have been engineered for exceptional rigidity and controlled excursion. Working within a carefully optimised bass reflex enclosure, they deliver deep, accurate and dynamic low-frequency performance while maintaining outstanding speed and control across the entire frequency range.

Engineered for Acoustic Integrity

The enclosure has been developed with acoustic neutrality as its primary objective. Extensive internal bracing, carefully optimised cabinet construction and resonance control ensure that the listener hears the performance of the drive units—not the cabinet itself.
