Handcrafted Precision

Every pair of Reference 5 Meta loudspeakers is designed, engineered and handcrafted at KEF's manufacturing facility in Maidstone, Kent, UK. Once assembled, each pair is individually measured and matched against the laboratory-maintained reference standard. With a pair matching tolerance of just ±0.5 dB, both loudspeakers perform as an acoustically identical system, delivering exceptional stereo imaging and tonal consistency.

12th Generation Uni-Q® with MAT™

At the heart of the Reference 5 Meta is KEF's 12th Generation Uni-Q® driver array, where the tweeter is positioned precisely at the acoustic centre of the midrange driver. This true point-source configuration allows the entire frequency range to radiate from a single origin, resulting in outstanding phase coherence, accurate imaging and a remarkably stable soundstage.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™) absorbs up to 99% of the unwanted sound radiating from the rear of the tweeter. By eliminating these internal reflections, MAT™ significantly reduces distortion and reveals greater transparency, finer low-level detail and a more natural presentation of instruments and voices.

Low-Frequency Performance Without Compromise

Four 165 mm aluminium bass drivers have been engineered to maintain exceptional rigidity while delivering long, controlled excursion. Working together within a carefully optimised bass reflex enclosure, they produce deep, authoritative bass with outstanding speed, precision and dynamic control, allowing the Reference 5 Meta to reproduce everything from the most delicate musical passages to the full scale of orchestral and cinematic recordings.
