In 1987, the original Acoustic Energy AE1 redefined what a compact loudspeaker could achieve. Delivering exceptional dynamics, clarity and bass performance from a remarkably small enclosure, it quickly became a reference for both professional studios and audiophiles. The AE1 40th Anniversary Edition celebrates this iconic loudspeaker by preserving its original character while incorporating the benefits of forty years of loudspeaker development.
Completely re-engineered drive units
As the original AE1 components are no longer available, every drive unit has been redesigned from the ground up. The new model features a 125 mm anodised aluminium bass/mid driver together with a 29 mm anodised aluminium dome tweeter incorporating a larger voice coil. The result is higher efficiency, lower distortion, reduced thermal compression and improved overall performance while remaining faithful to the sound of the original AE1.
Modern RSC™ cabinet technology
Although the external dimensions remain unchanged, the cabinet has been completely redesigned using RSC™ (Resonance Suppression Composite) HDF/bitumen construction. This modern enclosure increases internal volume, improves rigidity and further reduces cabinet coloration while preserving the distinctive sonic character that made the AE1 famous.
Premium crossover design
The crossover network has been inspired by Acoustic Energy's Signature Series, using carefully selected premium-grade components to maximise transparency, imaging and tonal accuracy. The result is an exceptionally revealing loudspeaker with outstanding musical coherence.
Anniversary finish
The AE1 40th Anniversary Edition is available in High Gloss Black and High Gloss Walnut finishes. Multiple layers of high-gloss lacquer, meticulous craftsmanship and timeless proportions create a loudspeaker that is as visually impressive as it is acoustically accomplished.
