SVS PB17-Ultra R|Evolution is the pinnacle of SVS ported subwoofer performance, engineered for reference home theater and Hi-Fi systems. It combines a massive 17-inch high-excursion driver with dual 8-inch voice coils, triple high-flow ports and a STA-2800D dual-monoblock Class D amplifier rated at 2,800 watts RMS and 6,000+ watts peak.

Variable port tuning provides three distinct operating modes. Standard Mode delivers a frequency response of 14Hz to 220Hz ±3dB, Extended Mode reaches 12Hz to 220Hz ±3dB, while Sealed Mode provides 14Hz to 320Hz ±3dB. A 295MHz Analog Devices DSP, SVS Auto EQ and the SVS Subwoofer Control App provide extensive control and room optimization.

PB17-Ultra R|Evolution features the largest and most formidable driver ever deployed in an SVS subwoofer. Its lightweight and rigid 17-inch glass fiber composite cone provides an optimal stiffness-to-mass ratio for maximum efficiency and acoustic linearity.

A four-piece toroidal ferrite electromagnetic motor generates massive force with precise control, while an extreme-excursion catenary SBR rubber surround maintains pure, long-throw pistonic driver motion.

Unerring Control from Dual 8-inch Voice Coils

Dual 8-inch voice coils provide stable transfer of electromagnetic current to the 17-inch driver for authoritative output and precise driver control. Four-layer bifilar voice coils conduct power from the dual-mono amplifier to the motor with high thermal efficiency.

Copper-clad aluminum voice-coil wire combines thermal capacity and magnetic field strength, while dual shorting rings reduce gap inductance and lower distortion.

Dual Mono STA-2800D Amplifier

The STA-2800D features dual monoblock Class D amplifiers with discrete MOSFET output stages and is rated at 2,800 watts RMS and 6,000+ watts peak.

Each amplifier drives one of the dual voice coils within the motor to maximize power transfer and driver control. Eight 60 Amp, 200 Volt MOSFETs provide extreme high-current capability for reference-level output with maximum efficiency.

Variable Port Tuning

PB17-Ultra R|Evolution features triple high-flow 4-inch ports. Variable Port Tuning with the included port plugs enables customized frequency response curves for Standard, Extended and Sealed modes, allowing the subwoofer to be optimized for maximum output, deeper bass extension or transient speed.

Standard Mode with all ports open delivers 14Hz to 220Hz ±3dB. Extended Mode with two ports open reaches 12Hz to 220Hz ±3dB, while Sealed Mode with all ports sealed provides a frequency response of 14Hz to 320Hz ±3dB.

Performance-Enhancing Switch Mode Power Supply

An onboard AC line conditioner filters and stabilizes incoming voltage, corrects waveform distortions and reduces electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference to optimize signal quality and audio performance.

The system maintains a clean and consistent 160V rail voltage. Power-Factor-Correction (PFC) time-aligns AC voltage and current, resulting in less heat, greater efficiency, reliable peak power output and the ability to maintain rated power over a wide range of voltages.

295MHz Analog Devices DSP

A sophisticated 295MHz Analog Devices DSP orchestrates the amplifier, motor and driver ecosystem. It accurately shapes in-room frequency response and monitors amplifier operation to maintain consistent output.

Advanced digital audio processing and DACs with a 120 dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio provide greater headroom, lower noise and pristine fidelity.

SVS Auto EQ Room Correction

SVS Auto EQ analyzes the listening environment and optimizes subwoofer output for the specific room using the SVS Subwoofer Control App and a smartphone microphone or optional external SVS Auto EQ microphone.

It provides optimized performance across multiple listening positions, smoother and more balanced bass, improved frequency response and tonal accuracy, optimized room gain, and reduced peaks and nulls caused by room acoustics.

SVS Subwoofer Control App

Compatible with Apple iOS, Google Android and Amazon Fire platforms, the SVS Subwoofer Control App provides convenient subwoofer tuning and management.

Controls include volume, low-pass filter, phase, polarity, six parametric equalizers, room gain compensation, tuning modes, power management settings and more. Three memory presets allow fast system adjustments for music, movies, night mode and other listening preferences.

Robust MDF Cabinet

PB17-Ultra R|Evolution features a robust Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) cabinet with internal bracing for resonance-free performance at high drive levels. A protective non-resonant extra-thick ABS grille frame with fabric mesh shields the front-firing 17-inch driver.

Screw-in Iso-elastomer feet reduce noise artifacts and improve stability, while the rear-panel OLED interface provides direct access to important controls and includes a convenient Display Flip function.

Extension to 12Hz

In Extended Mode, PB17-Ultra R|Evolution reaches an extraordinary 12Hz to 220Hz ±3dB. Its roll-off slope is specifically optimized to take maximum advantage of available room gain.
