The Rotel DX-3 combines a high-performance DAC, headphone amplifier and analogue preamplifier into a compact component designed for discerning music enthusiasts. Built around Rotel's renowned analogue engineering and carefully selected components, it delivers exceptional musical detail, accuracy and control for both headphone and loudspeaker systems.
ESS Sabre ES9028PRO DAC
At the heart of the DX-3 is the ESS Sabre ES9028PRO 8-channel DAC, providing outstanding digital-to-analogue conversion with extremely low noise and distortion. The USB input supports PCM up to 32-bit / 384 kHz and DSD4X, while the optical and coaxial inputs accept signals up to 24-bit / 192 kHz.
Fully balanced Class A headphone amplifier
Following digital conversion, the audio signal passes through a carefully engineered analogue output stage before reaching the fully balanced Class A headphone amplifier. Powered by Rotel's custom-built toroidal transformer and premium low-noise components, the DX-3 delivers effortless dynamics, excellent detail retrieval and precise musical presentation. Both 6.35 mm and 4.4 mm balanced Pentaconn headphone outputs are provided.
Flexible connectivity
The DX-3 accommodates a wide range of source components with USB-B, optical, coaxial, Bluetooth with aptX HD and AAC, and an analogue RCA line input. Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs allow direct connection to power amplifiers or active loudspeakers.
Designed for modern listening
A full-colour front-panel display provides clear operating information, while the precision volume control and supplied aluminium remote ensure intuitive operation. The DX-3 is also Roon Tested, making it an ideal companion for today's high-resolution streaming environments.
