ATLAS Hyper AES/EBU digital XLR cable
Atlas Hyper AES-EBU is an advanced 110 Ohm digital interconnect featuring silver-plated OFC conductors, microporous PTFE dielectric and foil/OFC braid screening. Its balanced construction is designed to minimise cable reflections and time-based jitter.
Atlas Hyper AES-EBU Digital Interconnect
Atlas Hyper AES-EBU is an optimum quality 110 Ohm digital cable for the increasingly popular AES/EBU interface. To achieve a cost-effective but high level of performance, Atlas uses low contact resistance soldered XLR plugs together with highly conductive silver-plated OFC conductors, microporous PTFE dielectric and a foil/OFC braid screen configuration.
The speed or bandwidth characteristic of most cables is determined primarily by the combination of the dielectric performance of the insulation applied around the conductor and the conductor material itself.
One of the primary challenges in this type of cable is to keep as close as possible to the required 110 Ohm impedance specification to minimise cable reflections and therefore time-based jitter induction.
Key Features
- 110 Ohm AES/EBU digital interconnect.
- Balanced pair of silver-plated OFC conductors.
- Microporous PTFE dielectric individually applied around each conductor.
- Anti-vibration cotton filler.
- Multi-level screening constructed from aluminium foil and woven OFC braid.
- Low contact resistance soldered XLR plugs.
- Designed to remain as close as possible to the 110 Ohm impedance specification.
- Designed to minimise cable reflections and time-based jitter induction.
Silver-Plated OFC Conductors and PTFE Dielectric
The Hyper AES-EBU uses a balanced pair of silver-plated OFC conductors, each individually wrapped with a highly efficient microporous PTFE dielectric tape.
The construction also incorporates anti-vibration cotton filler before the complete assembly is enclosed within its multi-level screening system.
Multi-Level Screening
The cable is enclosed within a multi-level screen constructed from aluminium foil and woven OFC braid, protecting the balanced conductor pair within the cable.
110 Ohm Impedance
One of the primary design challenges for this type of digital cable is maintaining an impedance as close as possible to the required 110 Ohm specification.
This is important in minimising cable reflections and the resulting time-based jitter induction.
