Upgraded High-Performance DAC

CD 70 features a new high-performance DAC designed to extract more detail, clarity and depth from every recording. Whether rediscovering a familiar album or listening to a new release, the digital section is engineered to reveal greater nuance and precision.

The player also incorporates DAC Master Clock Design and Marantz HDAM-SA2 circuitry. High-grade audio components, customised components and a symmetrical circuit layout form part of the overall audio architecture.

High-Resolution USB-A Playback

CD 70 extends playback beyond physical discs with a convenient front USB-A input. This allows high-resolution digital music files to be played directly from compatible USB storage devices.

Supported USB-A formats include FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC and DSD, giving CD 70 the flexibility to handle both a traditional Compact Disc collection and a library of high-resolution digital music.

Marantz HDAM-SA2 Circuitry

CD 70 incorporates Marantz HDAM-SA2 technology. Marantz HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module) is the company's discrete circuit approach used in place of conventional integrated amplification solutions.

A toroidal power transformer, separate rectifier circuits for the analogue and digital sections, high-grade components and a symmetrical circuit layout contribute to the carefully engineered internal construction. An additional metal plate is also used to strengthen the chassis.

Dedicated Headphone Amplifier

A fully discrete headphone amplifier built with HDAM circuitry provides dedicated performance for personal listening. Selectable gain allows the headphone output to be better matched to different headphones.

A dedicated headphone volume control is provided, allowing CD 70 to be used directly for headphone listening without requiring a separate headphone amplifier.

Physical Discs and Digital Music

CD 70 plays CD and CD-R/RW discs and supports compatible MP3 and WMA files. Standard playback functions include programme play, repeat and random playback.

For analogue connection, CD 70 provides a 2-channel RCA output with gold-plated connectors. Optical and coaxial digital outputs are also provided, allowing the player to be connected to an external DAC or other compatible digital audio equipment.
