The AE Active builds on the success of Acoustic Energy's award-winning active loudspeakers, introducing a completely redesigned platform that combines modern engineering with the company's long-standing commitment to natural, high-fidelity sound reproduction. Every element has been refined to deliver greater accuracy, improved dynamics and enhanced musical performance.

A fully analogue signal path

The AE Active has been engineered around a completely analogue audio architecture. By eliminating DSP, Bluetooth audio processing and integrated streaming electronics, the signal path remains as pure as possible, preserving the character, timing and musicality of the original recording.

Class A/B bi-amplification

Each loudspeaker features dedicated Class A/B power amplifiers for the high-frequency and mid/bass drivers. Combined with an active crossover network, this configuration provides improved driver control, lower distortion and greater dynamic headroom. A high-quality linear power supply ensures stable, low-noise performance.

Fifth-generation Ceramic Aluminium driver technology

The system incorporates a newly developed 125 mm Ceramic Aluminium cone driver, offering exceptional stiffness and low resonance for accurate midrange and bass reproduction. A 27 mm aluminium dome tweeter with Wide Dispersion Technology (WDT) waveguide delivers smooth, detailed high frequencies with consistent off-axis performance.

Newly developed cabinet design

The rigid MDF enclosure has been extensively reinforced to minimise cabinet resonance and colouration. For the first time in an Acoustic Energy active loudspeaker, a slot-loaded bass reflex port has been adopted, reducing air turbulence while improving low-frequency extension and bass control.

Flexible integration

AE Active provides both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analogue inputs, allowing easy integration with DACs, preamplifiers and music streamers. Rear-panel bass and treble adjustments enable the speakers to be optimised for different rooms and installation positions.
